Our Pledge
To deliver a fully inclusive programme of sports recovery by ensuring that every individual is treated with respect and receives the support they require based on their individual needs, while affording every individual the same opportunity and maintaining that no individual is disadvantaged.
To engage with industry partners, charities, public service providers, their federations and disability associations on behalf of our members to promote disability sport and improve support for officers and staff who have been injured, living with disability, illness, mental health or neurodiversity.
To uphold our pledge, we will focus on key strategic areas:
Fundraising
PUKDS sports teams will be able to raise funds through fundraising intitiatives to support the delivery of their teams in the leagues.
We will also apply for regional and national grants to support the purchase of equipment, and cover the day-to-day running costs of the organisation and deliver inclusive sporting events regionally and nationally.
Regional Disability Sports Teams
We have divided the UK into fourteen regions, based on the Home Office Police Force boundaries, which groups counties, making it much more manageable to create regional teams, with far fewer than if we were to divide teams by county.
Each region will be run through an Adaptive Sports Hub, providing regular training and development sessions, and provide a home for the sports teams to host events against other regions and community sports clubs.
National Teams and Events
PUKDS will deliver national leagues for the regional sports teams to compete in as well as host national tournaments and international competitions for the PUKDS Team UK squads to play against other nations.
Policy and Legislation
Police UK Disability Sport is dedicated to delivering change in the emergency services and armed forces community, by working with federations and disability associations as well as charities to improve the culture and attitudes towards disability and mental health.
We will engage with local MPs and government on improving standards in all public service roles relating to disability and mental health support and to ensure there is uniformity throughout all of the services in the UK.
To work towards all services adopting the same joining criteria for it's employees and volunteers relating to disability, mental health and nuerodiversity.
We are supporting a campaign for the creation of a new medal, to be awarded to service personnel who have been injured on duty which has resulted in them being medically retired from the police. This campaign highlights the need for improvements in all police forces where their officers have been injured on duty.

Well-being and Recovery
We will be aiming to build a Central Hub for disability sport, rehabilitation, mental health and well-being. Working in collaboration with existing charities and treatment centres to deliver a combined recovery programme which supports all emergency services and armed forces personnel by affording them the same opportunities based on their individual needs, no matter where in the country or for which service they work for.
The introduction of Special Leave for personnel with disabilities, mental health and nuerodiversity to take part in disability sports events. This will aid in the recovery from injury and provide an improved well-being service which could reduce sick days and early retirement through stress and burnout. This proposal could decrease long periods of duty restrictions through injury, illness and mental health recovery.
Emergency Services Covenant and Trust
PUKDS is campaigning to introduce a joint Emergency Services Covenant with a trust, that will support all emergency service personnel and their families in the same way that the Armed Forces Covenant supports the armed forces community.
