Ambassadors
Sports Ambassadors play a vital role in raising awareness of the sports in their local communities, within the police community and at a national level with many of them having either competed or currently competing for local clubs.
The Invictus Games was founded in 2014 which has supported thousands of athletes from the Armed Forces to compete in a number of events to assist with recovery, rehabilitation and treatment of physical and psychological injuries, disability and mental health.
So Police UK Disability Sport is proud to announce that all of our Sports Ambassadors for 2024 have come through, or are currently going through the Invictus process supported by the Royal British Legion Recovery Programme.
All of these individuals have overcome injury and illness through the power of sports recovery to compete at an International sporting competition, so who better than to promote disability sport in the emergency services than those that have served their country and for whatever reason have left the services through injury or illness and fought their way back to become advocates for disability sport.
Below you will be able to read about their personal journeys and hear their stories, from service to 'civvy street', recovery and rehabilitation from injury and illness, to starting their sports recovery journey, right through to competing at the Invictus Games and beyond.
Between them, they have had very different journeys and for very different reasons, but every single one of them has overcome their personal battles to be where they are now. All with the support of the team and support staff through sports recovery.
